Qualifications In 2011, I achieved full membership of the
New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (MNZAP) after completing five years of prescribed study, practice and on-going supervision and I received the certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice (Psychotherapy).

In the 90’s, I undertook three years training in Direct Reductive Analysis – a psychodynamically oriented insight therapy based on the work practised and developed by Suttie, Hadfield, Jung, Adler and others who had first studied with Sigmund Freud. This training was with the Glenburn Group, a private training group in Christchurch facilitated by the late Harry Cohen – one of the founding and honorary life member, of the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists. The model of Direct Reductive Analysis was introduced to New Zealand in 1939 by Dr. Maurice Bevan-Brown. Bevan-Brown was a prominent psychiatrist who had studied with Adler, Jung etc.

My earlier professional training in counselling and psychotherapy began in Christchurch in the late 1980’s and early 90’s at the Campbell Centre (the counselling division of Presbyterian Support Services), where I gained a foundation Certificate in Counselling and a Certificate in Counselling (with a focus on psychotherapeutic models).

In 2007, I completed the final year of a 3 year Diploma in Counselling (applied) at CPIT in Christchurch. In 2009, I completed a Certificate in Professional Supervision (Level 5) from Weltec.
